Thomas Sonnenberg joins ACER REMIT Expert Group

We are excited to share the news that our colleague Thomas Sonnenberg has been selected by ACER to join the REMIT Expert Group on Wholesale Energy Market Data Reporting. This consultative group has been established by ACER to enhance the transparency and integrity of the wholesale energy market. The expert group will contribute to ACER’s efforts in data collection under REMIT and provide guidance to improve the compliance of reporting parties with the data reporting requirements. 

At the core of these tasks are the contributions from Registered Reporting Mechanisms (RRMs) such as Equias, which is Europe’s leading RRM not tied to a particular energy exchange. PONTON is proud to be supporting and developing the Equias platform since 2005, work which has been organized and led by Thomas Sonnenberg on PONTON’s side. 

As a member of the ACER REMIT expert group, Thomas Sonnenberg will advise ACER on transaction and fundamental data reporting, for example during the future revision process of REMIT (aka “REMIT Refit”). He will also contribute to the future creation of new Implementing Acts. This work will close the circle for PONTON, as we advised the European Commission, DG Energy on the original REMIT Implementing Act with our partner PWC back in 2012.
